MULTI-FAMILY CONSTRUCTION

Multi-family construction poses additional complexity and nuances compared to single-family detached construction. At Century, we are dedicated to providing the necessary training, development, and consultation services to ensure we are building quality homes according to approved industry standards, UL rated assemblies, utility & egress consideration, etc.

Firewall/Area Separation Wall Process Century’s Third-Party Inspection Auditors and/or Supplier (ie, American Gypsum, Georgia Pacific, LP, etc.) will conduct onsite training. They will cover the proper construction of the selected UL-rated fire separation wall

detail in the plans for the respective projects. A scaled-mock firewall will be constructed by each division on-site per the respective UL rating. The National Operations team must be onsite to approve the mock wall. If more than one UL-rating is listed on the plans, each wall assembly will be constructed. This wall will be used to train all division staff and Construction Managers building multi-family projects, so they are cognizant of proper assembly. The responsibility of ensuring the proper construction of the mock wall rests with the Installer and Third-Party Inspection Companies.
