SIDING – CEMENTITIOUS
WALL CLADDING A. 1 ¼" starter strip installed under the frst plank to ensure a consistent plank angle. B. 2" clearance above slabs, paths, steps, and decks, 6" clearance above fnish grade, and 1" above roof intersections. C. Z-Flashing installed at all horizontal transitions at dissimilar materials and sloped to the exterior. Flashing to be integrated behind or sealed to the water-resistive barrier (WRB) with flashing tape. Minimum 1/4" gap between flashing and siding, not sealed. D. Spacing and treatment at jamb and sill transitions in accordance with fenestration manufacturer requirements.
E. All trim installed prior to feld planks in “butt to” method. F. Fasteners installed between 3/4" and 1" from top of plank. G. Fastener type, size and frequency to be used and nailed at stud locations per manufacturer installation instructions. H. Planks attached to studs using blind nailing method and correct fasteners per manufacturer installation requirements. I. Planks and trim installed level and plumb with all butt joints aligned. J. Minimum 6" wide flashing tab installed behind butt joints and extends over the plank below per manufacturer installation instructions or joint covers installed. K. Cut edges of planks and trim are primed or protected with sealant. L. 1/8" gap maintained at vertical intersections of planks and trim with sealant applied. M. Butt joints in successive courses are spaced minimum 32" apart, randomly dispersed and placed over a stud. N. Planks saddled over openings. O. Mounting blocks installed at through-wall penetrations over 1 ½" with drip caps and sealant applied on sides and bottom edge. Drip caps are turned up or down at the ends. P. Joints in vertical trim pieces are weather cut at a 22.5 degree angle with top piece overlapping bottom shingle style. Weather cuts are minimum 12" apart from adjacent boards.
