CULTURED STONE

WALL CLADDING  A. Metal lath shall be installed horizontally to wood framing members, lapped 1" minimum at the sides and ends. Adjoining metal lath shall be staggered.  B. Metal lath is attached to framing members with fasteners not more than 6" apart and ensuring a minimum of 3/4" embedment into the framing members.  C. Mortar base coat is 3/8" to 1/2" with uniform thickness extending to the top of the stone section. Create horizontal grooving of the surface for mechanical adhesion of the stone.  D. Stone has been buttered with 1/2" layer of mortar and installed to manufacturer specifcations.  E. Weep screed is not clogged and are free of mortar and properly integrated into the drainage plane.  F. Horizontal transitions are properly implemented

with L-flashing lapped underneath a layer of housewrap or is taped to the housewrap with flashing tape.

 G. Weep screed extends 1" below the foundation plate and is a minimum of 4" above earth, 2" above paved surfaces, or 1/2" above exterior walking surfaces which are supported by the same foundation that supports the exterior wall.  H. When stone extends below the screed, an expansion joint is installed at frame-to-foundation transition with flashing tape bridging the frame-to-foundation transition when the stone extends below the weep screed.  I. All cultured stone terminations at dissimilar materials (siding, trim, etc.) have a minimum nominal 1/8" space with a casing bead that is sealed with C920 Class 25 sealant.  J. Weep screed installed at stone-over-roof plane conditions and is held up 2" above roofng materials.
